Conditions for the match was cold with highs of just 6C. In the main, it was overcast and very wet underfoot. Water levels had receded but still way above normal winter levels for late January.
Winner on the day was George Parker who drew peg 80 on the Specimen Lake.
George fished at 40m with a method feeder loaded with micro pellet with waffter hook baits landing a very impressive winter weight of prime carp to 18lbs.
At the scales, George weighed in 169-10-0 which was more than double his nearest rival.
Second overall was Rob Wiltshire (Greens Fishing Tackle) from peg 60 on the Specimen Lake.
Rob fished the hybrid feeder loaded with micro pellet at 60m.
Bait was various waffters which produced carp to 15lbs.
Robert’s weight was 77-3-0 for a comfortable section and zone win.
Third placed Lee Jepson drew peg 4 on the Match Lake. At the start of the match, fish could be seen all around the bottom bay but were all swimming shallow.
Constantly feeding his margins, carp started to feed to method with dead reds as hook baits.
His weight at 68-11-0 was enough to secure the lake win and zone rewarding him with a Grand Final placing.
Fourth to the frame was John Turnock (Burt Baits) from peg 78 on the Specimen Lake.
John fished the method feeder with waffters fished at 40m producing five carp that tipped the scales at 65-9-0.
Fifth overall was Paul Cooke from peg 5 on the Specimen Lake with 59-0-0 all to the hybrid feeder and 6mm waffters.
