Match & Specimen Lakes
50 anglers braved the artic conditions. Parts on the Match Lake froze as the anglers were setting up. The sub zero conditions warmed slightly during the qualifier to highs of just 5C.
Despite the sub zero conditions, catches were still reasonable with carp, bream and F1’s making a presence.
Winner today and progressing to the March Final was Tony Morris who drew peg 7 on the Specimen Lake.
Tony fished a method feeder long with pink waffter hook baits, landing 77-10-0 of big carp and a couple or so of decent bream, winning his zone of 20.
Second overall was Darren Cox who was again just short of a qualifying for the final.
Darren drew peg 27 on the Specimen Lake, netting quality carp to 20lbs on the method and pink waffters. At the whistle weighing in a level 72-0-0.
Third to the frame was Paul Twigg from Specimen Lake peg 5.
Paul fished long with pink waffters, landing bream and carp that tipped the scales at 67-11-0.
Fourth placed Steve Hanrahan drew peg 4 on the Specimen Lake, again fishing long on the method with waffter hook baits landing 56-3-0 of quality carp.
Fifth overall was Craig Whittaker from Specimen Lake peg 6 with 43-11-0 of bream & carp all caught on the method long with pink waffter hook baits.
