Golden Rod Feeder Championship Meadowlands Qualifier No21 Saturday 29th February 2020

A near sell out of 57 pegs but 13 no shows due to the extreme weather conditions and possibly down to the change of venue as Larford was suffering from adverse flooding.

Conditions at Meadowlands was pretty awful with another storm battering the lakes. Temperatures were little more than 6C with heavy wintery showers and very strong icy winds.
Water temperatures had plummeted and levels were high.

Winner on the day was Craig Willis who drew peg 20 on Lambsdown.
Craig fished the method feeder long with waffters catching around 20lbs of skimmers and two late carp short, which boosted his weight to a winning 41-9-0 and a place in the final.

 

Second overall was Shane Hodgkinson (Shimano) from peg 19 on Warren with 35-4-0.
Shane kept it simple, fishing a window feeder with punched bread and later the method with corn short to land four carp and weighing in 36-0-0.
Shane also progresses to the final.

Third on the day was Simon Skelton from peg 42 on Lambsden.
Simon fished the method long with the method feeder and waffter landing bream and carp for 35-4-0 Simon also progresses to the Grand Final.

Fourth placed Brett Clarke was so unlucky not to qualify and fell just 2oz short of a zone win.
Brett drew peg 3 on Lambsden and fished the method long.
He found two carp long and one down his edge to weigh in 35-2-0.

Fifth to the frame was Dean Barlow (Drennan) from peg 9 on Lambsden.
Dean weighed in 33-4-0 made up of bream and a single carp all caught on the method and open ender tactics.
